Today I went to the Magic of Oz and Ozimals sims for their Strawberry Festival because there was a strawberry hunt going on at both sims. I picked up a basket at the landing point and found a spot on the Magic of Oz sim to look for randomly appearing strawberries. If you want to win all of the prizes, you have to collect 6 strawberries 16 times.
After collecting the strawberries, I went to each of the 16 participating shops to eat cake! It was fun! I love the Magic of Oz hunts!
Twilight: Eclipse was released in US theaters today. Anyone see it? I'm in no rush to watch the movie because so far I'm loving the books more.

Attempted!
Earlier today, I thought of an idea for another machinima I wanted to make. When I got in-world, I looked through my inventory, searched and teleported to places, and rezzed stuff out. I got sidetracked by IMs and SLURLs though, so I ended up doing other things. I'll either film later tonight or tomorrow.
While I rezzed and set things up, I received a group notice from -RC- Cluster. In celebration of the store's 3rd birthday, there was cake, balloons, and gifts at the main store. I quickly teleported over because it's one of my favorite shops. Congratulations to the creator, Redd Columbia!
Afterwards, I teleported back to where I rezzed stuff and I received a group IM about the CVL Volunteer meeting on Info Island. I love to know what's going on at the CVL, so I had to attend. I knew I was going to make it back late, so I just started taking things back into my inventory.
Also, I'm sad that the two teams I rooted for lost. I'm still enjoying my vuvuzela though!

SL7B: Enigma and Absurdity
Last night, I finished exploring all of the SL7B sims that have exhibits. There are more sims, but they only have stages for concerts. I was only interested in checking out the exhibits, so this will be my final post for SL7B.
There was one thing that was definitely present on all of the sims I visited and that thing was cake! One of the last cute and delicious looking cakes I saw was the strawberry cake by AliciaKay Kilara on the A Touch of Ireland exhibit.
I ate so much strawberry cake that I turned into a strawberry myself! I felt like taking a swan dive into the big blueberry pie by Holocluck Henly and Snurky Snoodle. It's located on the Me, Yourselves, and Pie exhibit and you can get the strawberry costume for free there. Right next to the pie is the Stilt Beaches exhibit with the big sheep where you can pick up a free pair of stilts. They are hard to walk in, but they are very fun!
If you like seeing your avatar contort into different poses, then visit the Bodied Words exhibit by pallina60 Loon. Just sit on one of the pose boxes and scroll through the letters and numbers for different poses. There are several boxes lined up next to each other, so you can bring a group and spell something out. While you're there, don't forget to pick up the free rideable pen!
I loved all of the artwork on display by Kerupa Flow. I couldn't stop looking at the artwork pictured above. Looking at it straight on makes it look like it's going in, but when I put my camera at an angle I saw that the prim is actually sticking out!
I enjoyed the SL7B sims this year and I'm looking forward to many more SL birthday celebrations!

Pool Party!
Earlier this evening I attended the TX950 Pool Party on Info Island. Each year, the Community Virtual Library has a pool party and they are always fun to attend. There was a contest for the most outrageous bathing gear, so that explains the outfit I wore to the party. Congratulations to Galia and Waldron for winning the contest!
It's so much easier to move and dance around in a pool in SL.
This is one of my favorite things to do in RL. I love to just lay back and float in the water of a pool. It's very calming and relaxing!
Even though the party is over, the pool is still on Info Island. It's a nice place to hangout and there are also links to summer reading websites on the tables by the pool.

SL7B: Contrary and Visionary
After exploring the SL7B Cake Park, I flew around some more and spotted the dragon by Extrovirtual on the Contrary sim. I'm used to seeing their dragons as Tiny Avatars, so it was fun to see it as a giant. There's a small teddy bear next to it to show the height comparison.
After visiting the dragon, I saw a big furry rabbit with carrots (created by Beaumont Ryba) close by. I decided to stop and snack on some carrots as well.
I was very happy to find the SL7B time capsule on the Visionary sim. I tried putting something into one of the time capsules a couple of years ago, but I forgot to put it in as copy and trans. I still need to find something to put in it this year.
Also on the Visionary sim, I spotted these cute building blocks on the side of an exhibit. I clicked on a block and was given a notecard that answered the question, "So why am I a kid avatar?" I went into the exhibit and saw that it's called Unexpected Childhoods by the Second Life Children group. I clicked on a few more blocks and read through the interesting stories of why they chose to become child avatars. I recommend this exhibit if you were ever curious about them.

SL7B: Four Corners
At the four corners of the Contrary, Visionary, Marvelous, and Phenomenon sims is where you can find the SL7B cake park. Each sim corner has a different "Seven" exhibit and some also have free unique birthday hats.
On Visionary is the Seven Continents Petting Zoo and they have an antlers birthday hat.
Phenomenal has Sojourner's Seven Wonders of the SL World Photo Gallery. I've been to 5 of the 7 displayed, but it's been a while since I visited those sims. I received a landmark to each place when I clicked on their pictures, so I'm for sure going to revisit the ones I've been to before and visit the two I haven't been to yet.
Contrary has a Lucky Seven Games Gallery and they have the jester cupcake party hat. I recommend visiting this place with a group and also pick up some funnel cake!
Marvelous had the biggest crowd when I visited each of the four sims. It has the Lucky Seven Days a Week Nightclub where people can dance and chat. They also have the free birthday cake hat.

SL7B: Bear Island and Miraculous
I looked at the SL7B sims on the map and decided that the next sim I wanted to explore was Bear Island. I used to collect Linden Bears, so it was fun to see a lot of them on display. The bears looked so cute and cuddly. Some of them are free to take, but you have to click on each to find them. One of my favorites that I got was the Mini Naughty Mole Bear. I also spotted a couple of V2 Linden Bears off on the side.
The next sim I went to was Miraculous and I saw even more bears there. They weren't just on display this time. They were having some fun by having a pie eating contest and playing on ice cream and other food. This exhibit was made by Drama Libre.
Also on the Miraculous sim, I saw a couple of surgeons working on a prim. It is amazing what people can create out of a single prim!

SL7B: Sideways and Upsidedown
Happy 7th Birthday, Second Life! So far, I've explored the Sideways and Upsidedown sims and I'm loving what I've seen so far. I'm going to post some of my favorites, so expect a lot of SL7B posts in the following days. There's a lot to see and I hope I don't miss anything. A lot of creators were generous with the free gifts too and I would like to say thank you to all of them!
I'm standing on top of the giant cake by Fluent Media Productions. Inside the cake is a free cake hat! When you touch it, a hand holding a slice of cake pops out!
The first place I teleported to on the birthday sims was the Unexpected Collaboration made by the creators from Sanu, Scribble, A.D.D Andel, and Dilly Dolls. It's a nice build and I loved playing on the floor piano!
I decided to fly around some more, since I made it into the sims and there wasn't much lag. I noticed some cows and stopped to take a look. It was a Galactic Fuel Station by Timmi Allen. It was very funny when I took a seat next to an alien to have lunch.
I stopped by the Virtual Guide Dog exhibit by Virutal Helping Hands and received a free virtual guide dog.
A bunch of cupcakes caught my attention, so I flew over to check it out. At first I thought it was a hang out area to meditate, but I walked over to the other side and saw that it's an Unexpected Collaboration Experiment by SecondAbility Mentors. There are notecards given at each cupcake with steps on how to meet new people and explore the SL7B sims with. There's a lot of people on these sims, so it shouldn't be hard to meet someone new too!
Feel free to comment in my posts if there's any other places on the SL7B sims that you'd like to share.

Carnival
I've been in my Greenie avatar for most of the day today. I'm at Greenies Home right now as I type this post. I am going to miss this sim. I think I might sign up for Rezzable to see another virtual world.
On the first day of the ZombiePopcorn Carnival, I kept crashing at the sim. I went back today though and I only crashed once, but it was still laggy. I love zombies! I was at a RL fair last weekend and I do have to say that my avatar can handle the spinning carnival rides much better than me.

2010 BBBC Final Topic
This is the final topic for the 2010 BBBC: If this is your first BBBC... What did you get out of your experience? Do you think it will change the way you blog in the future?
The BBBC got me interested in blogging and taking more snapshots in-world again. I remember when we were only allowed few image uploads on blogger, but now we're given more MB on Picasa, so that's really helpful. I'm finding some new blogs to read and I hope to continue blogging daily. I'm also thinking of a new title for my blog.
Thanks to Alicia for letting me participate in this year's BBBC!

Daisy Dukes, Bikinis on Top!
There might be some bias on my part since I'm a California girl in RL, but I love Katy Perry's new song called "California Gurls." I love it even more after I saw the music video for it. The video is cute, colorful, and fun! Everything about it reminds me of SL. The clothes, hair, makeup, and all the sweets! It wasn't very hard to dig through my inventory and find things to rez for some pictures.

Lucky
I rarely win anything in RL, but in SL it seems that I win something almost every day because of all the lucky chairs, boards, cupcakes, and midnight manias. Even while typing this, I switched back to the SL window and a lucky board changed to K right then. Thank you to all the designers for the prizes!
I love lockdowns!

Fountain of Youth
Today's topic: Is your avatar more or less your current biological age? Do you portray a younger avatar, or older? Why is this?
I never really thought about my avatar's age before. I change my avatar every now and then, but my usual avatar looks to be in the early-mid 20s (about 5 years younger than I am in RL). It's easy to make an avatar look young because most skins are flawless and don't have wrinkles. Even when I try to make my avatar look my RL age, my avatar still looks younger. I've met people whose RL ages ranged from 20-70, but most avatars I see around the grid look to be about 20-30.

Earthquake!
I've lost count of how many earthquakes I've felt throughout my life, so they aren't new to me, but they are still very scary.
Last night, a little passed 9pm (my RL time is the same as the time in SL) I felt an earthquake. The earthquake last night was a 5.7, but it felt as big as the 7.2 I felt in April. I'm thinking because it was closer this time. I'm happy to say that no one was hurt and there was no damage.

Some of the reasons why I heart SL!
The next topic for the BBBC is to write about three positive things in my Second Life. The following three are just a few of the many reasons why I love SL!
A couple of years ago, I downloaded WeGame after getting some interest in making machinima in SL after watching some videos by Torley and Stolvano. I had an old computer then and I crashed in SL every time I used WeGame, so I never had the chance to record anything longer than a minute. A couple of weeks ago, I started playing around with machinima again and I'm enjoying it so much more now that I'm not using an old computer. I'm having fun recording things in SL and I do have to admit that it's nice to see my avatar without having to log in. I've met people in SL who have told me that they do get attached to their avatars too and I'm sure many others feel the same way.
The next is a place in SL that I feel has an impact on people's real lives. I've been a volunteer for the Rainbow Gardens Pet Memorial Center in SL for the passed 2 years. People visit Rainbow Gardens to remember and mourn the loss of their RL pets. It is a sad time for when someone loses a beloved pet. Rainbow Gardens reminds people that even though their pets have passed on, they will never be forgotten. I love going to the gardens and I find it one of the most peaceful places to visit.
Last, but not least are the friends that I've made in SL. I love each and every one of them. I've known most of them since I first signed up for SL. It's always a good time whenever we get together to dance and chat. I wish we can teleport to each other in RL too.

Greenies Home Rezzable
When I logged in today, I received a message that the Greenies Home Rezzable sim is closing! Their last day is on June 23, 2010 and they will have a goodbye party this weekend. I was sad to hear the news and I even had to write it down in my RL calendar, so I won't miss the chance to say goodbye to the lovely sim.
Greenies Home was one of the first places I explored in SL and it's still one of my favorite places today. It's a sim I always recommend as a place to visit in SL. I love the build and imagination that went on behind the creation of Greenies Home.
Teleport as fast as you can to Greenies Home if you haven't been yet!

Big Bad Blogger Challenge 2010
Hi! My blog is back! I thought it would be a good time to start blogging again because the Big Bad Blogger Challenge starts today, which I found out about on Alicia Chenaux's blog. The challenge is to blog every day for one week. I can blog about anything and Alicia will also give us (the participants) topics to write about as well. For today's topic, we were given 2 questions: Why did you become a blogger? How has it enriched your life?
When I first started SL, I loved taking snapshots in-world. I had so many pictures that I started to burn them on CDs and uploading them onto my SL flickr (hasn't been updated in a long time either). I wanted to start putting words with my pictures, so I created this blog to write posts about them. My interest in it faded rather quickly though and I even started to take less pictures. I still read SL residents' blogs, but I never had any interest to start SL blogging again until recently.
Not counting my SL blog, I've been RL blogging on and off for about 12 years. I like having a blog/s because it's a place where I can express myself and pretty much write about whatever I want. I'm glad to start using my SL blog again!
